Martha Romero

The Romero Law Firm was founded in 1998 by its principal Martha E. Romero. The firm specializes in legal services to private clients in the areas of real property and title disputes, local taxation, family law, probate, trusts and other general law matters.

The firm also specializes in representing creditors in bankruptcy proceedings in all facets of bankruptcy law including claims, disclosure statements and plans of reorganization.

Prior to the opening of her own firm, she was an associate with the firm Alvarez-Glasman and Colvin (1994-1998) which specialized in representing public agencies. She served as General Counsel to the Channel Islands Community Beach Services District from 1997-2000. From 1987-1994, Ms. Romero served as Deputy County Counsel for the Office of the County Counsel, Los Angeles. She represented numerous creditors in the large bankruptcy case of Pacific Gas and Electric and Kmart.

Ms. Romero graduated from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, California, J.D. 1986 with honors and the University of California, Los Angeles, California, B.A. History 1979 with honors.

She has lectured on various topics of municipal taxation and bankruptcy for the California State Treasurer and Tax Collector Association, National Association of Counties, Society of Assessor and Appraisers, States Attorney Bankruptcy Group and the National Association of States Attorneys and other groups. She has taught Conflict Resolution seminars. She has been appointed to a number of board and commissions and is involved in various bar association groups.
